Have you ever wanted to be a Firefighter/EMT? Now you can learn-on-the-job with CCFR!
Capital City Fire Rescue (CCFR) is pleased to announce the launch of a new, paid Firefighter Apprenticeship Program. This comprehensive 10-month initiative offers a direct pathway into a fulfilling and stable career in emergency service, with no prior experience required. CCFR will select six highly motivated individuals to participate in the program. Apprentices will receive paid, hands-on training while earning industry-recognized certifications, including Alaska EMT-1 and IFSAC Firefighter I. Designed to eliminate traditional barriers to entry, the program provides a unique opportunity to gain essential skills and qualifications without the need for college enrollment, relocation, or extended volunteer service.
Upon successful completion, apprentices will be eligible for permanent, full-time positions with Capital City Fire/Rescue.

Once EMT certification is obtained and firefighter training commences, apprentices will transition to a 24-hour shift schedule and reside at the fire station during their assigned shifts. CCFR operates two primary live-in stations: the Juneau Station, located in the downtown area, and the Glacier Station, situated near the Juneau International Airport.
