Arizona Fire & Medical Authority (AFMA) is accepting test scores for Recruit Firefighter

This recruitment will establish a joint eligibility list for Recruit Firefighter.

This position requires both FireTEAM and a valid CPAT.

The FireTEAM written exam must be taken between April 18, 2025 – June 6^th, 2023, and submitted to the host agency: Arizona Fire & Medical Authority.

A valid CPAT must be taken between December 6, 2024 – June 6th, 2025, and submitted at the time of application.

Salary Information:

• AFMA Recruit Firefighter: $26.27 per hour during Academy
  • AFMA Firefighter EMT: $57,528 Annually
  • AFMA Firefighter Paramedic: receive an additional $3.00 per hour

Area Information: Today, the Authority, an ISO Class 1 / Internationally Accredited organization, serves over 75,000 people, providing all hazard emergency services, including 9-1-1 and inter-facility ambulance service from eight fire stations strategically located in the Phoenix metro-area’s west and east valley. Currently, all members are on a 48-96 hour schedule.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or G.E.D.
Current National Registry or State of Arizona certification as an Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic at time of application
Driving required position – must be in possession of and maintain a valid State of Arizona Driver’s license with a good driving history and meet insurability requirements

Necessary Certifications:
National Registry or State of Arizona certification as an Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic and valid health care provider CPR card at time of application

Additional Requirements:
A valid CPAT must be taken between December 6^th, 2024 – June 6th, 2025 and submitted at the time of application

Hiring Process:

Felony/Criminal Activity and other Disqualifiers:

• Convictions of a criminal offense will be reviewed thoroughly and may have a bearing on one's employment.
• Misrepresentation of any information on the employment application or during the recruitment process will be an employment disqualifier

Driving Disqualifiers:

• Driving record has eight (8) points or more in the previous 36 months.
• More than two (2) chargeable accidents within the previous 36 months.
• A conviction of driving under the influence within the previous 36 months.
• License has been cancelled, refused, revoked, suspended, or restricted as a result of a moving violation within the previous 36 months.
• A current cancellation, expiration, refusal, revocation, suspension, or restriction that affects the applicant’s ability to drive on AFMA business.
