Description
The selectee for this position will serve as a Lead Firefighter in the Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services Branch, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, California of MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CTR.Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: responding to fires, alarms, and other emergencies; providing administrative leadership for day to day emergency and non-emergency responsibilities and duties; providing training regarding fire prevention or emergency procedures; and evaluating subordinate fire fighter performance.

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
You are required to wear a uniform and maintain appearance and grooming standards per Marine Corps Orders/Policies
This position requires rotating shift work.

You will be required to maintain compliance with NFPA 1582 (Fire Fighter Physical Medical Evaluations), NFPA 1583 (Fire Fighter Fitness Program Requirements
You will be required to participate in the mandatory F&ESD Physical Fitness Program to maintain a level and degree of fitness needed to perform all duties.
You will be required to obtain and maintain current FIREFIGHTER certifications: Fire Officer I, Fire Inspector I, and Fire Instructor I, Firefighter I and Firefighter II by the Department of Defense (DoD), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or ProBoard.
You will be required to possess and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
You must possess a current National Registry or State Certification as Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
You will be required to possess and maintain a current Emergency Vehicle Operations Certification (EVOC) or obtain within 6 months of hire.
You will be required to possess and maintain a current U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator's Identification card.
You may be subject to mandatory recall during destructive weather, major incidents, or any other time determined by the command.
You may be required to work in high elevations and/or below ground in confined workspaces.
You will be required to work hours and conditions under close contact with supervisors for long periods of time.
You will be subject to adverse weather and/or harsh working conditions; burns, smoke inhalation, noxious fumes, falling materials, and explosions.
You will be exposed to communicable diseases, unsanitary conditions and traumatic injuries.
You will be required to possess and maintain the physical stamina, agility, and mental stability to work under conditions where intense periods of physical exertion and mental stress, under adverse conditions, may be encountered.
You must be able to work under emergency conditions giving clear, definitive instructions, in a decisive manner to firefighting forces and other emergency service personnel.
This position is performed indoors, outdoors, in all types of weather conditions and is subject to heat, cold, smoke, wind, humidity, and stress.
This position requires the use of specialized protective clothing and respiratory protection.
This position is subject to exposure from hazardous materials that include chemicals, fuels, biological agents, radioactive particles, and explosives.
The provision of Advanced Life Saving (ALS) Emergency medical services exposes to such hazards such as infections or contagious diseases.
You must be able to obtain and maintain Inland County Emergency Medical Agency (ICEMA) status within 60 days of hire.
You will respond to technical search and rescue emergencies, provide scene control and directs operations maintaining proficiency in urban search and rescue techniques, auto extrication, high/low angle rescue, trench rescue, building/vehicle shoring and stabilization, fundamentals of building construction, confined space rescue and building collapse.
You will respond to hazardous materials incidents to perform operations officer, safety officer, primary and secondary entry team leader, decontamination manager, rinser, bagger, timer/recorder, hazmat team leader, safety/welfare officer, support manager, and research person.
A thorough knowledge of fire behavior and fire suppression methods, techniques, and equipment to lead, direct, and train a crew in fire extinguishment. Mitigate hazardous emergencies, and administer emergency medical treatment.
Extensive knowledge of wildland firefighting operations and techniques, weather patterns and burn characteristics, fire trail consrucion and maintenance, backfiring, tools, and equipment, safety, deploying fire shelters and use of map and compass. Must maintain appropriate certifications and training necessary for the performance of this task. A thorough knowledge of non-fire emergency response situations, to lead and direct a crew during the response.
A thorough knowledge of the major motorized apparatus to direct and train in driving techniques for emergency responses, operate pumps, hydraulic calculations, and correct basic mechanical problems. Knowledge of hazardous materials emergencies and
procedures, and be familiar with the dangers involved in dealing with such materials and the specialized tools and equipment required for this type of work.
You must be capable of understanding technical manuals and reference materials, and be able to relate it to operations, maintenance and training.
You must be alert and receptive to changes in the separate occupations involved in, firefighting, prevention, medical communications, hazardous materials, and demonstrate a willingness to learn developments, regulatory requirements, use of new equipment/apparatus, and the application procedures for the protection, safety/health, and well-being of all.
You must show knowledge of hazardous materials releases and response procedures necessary to mitigate these events. Technical knowledge gained through education, on-site training and experience. Maintain appropriate certification to perform the tasks.

This position may require travel from normal duty station. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
