Description

The City of Bothell Fire Department is currently building a list of applicant profiles from National Testing Network (NTN) to create an eligibility list. The City anticipates several vacancies needing to be filled in January 2026.

To be considered for this round of hiring, all testing and application submissions must be completed by 5:00PM PST, July 11, 2025.

Required tests, assessments and applications required are as followed:

  1. Go to National Testing Network and choose Bothell Fire Department under firefighter jobs.
    • Complete FireTEAM testing through National Testing Network within the previous year (between July 30, 2024, and July 31, 2025).
  2. Complete a valid CPAT test within the previous year (between July 30, 2024, and July 31, 2025). Verifiable CPAT certifications will be accepted from NTN or a licensed testing facility.
  3. Complete the City’s online application, by clicking the green APPLY box in the upper, right hand corner of this screen.
    • If you are a Veteran requesting Veteran’s preference, please attach to your City application the Veteran’s Scoring Criteria Form and ‘Form DD214’ or ‘NGB 22.’

The highest scoring NTN candidates (up to a maximum of 240 candidates), who meet the above requirements, will be invited to participate in a speed interview process. The top 15-20 candidates from each speed interview panel will move on to the panel interview (up to a maximum of 60 candidates). Those passing the panel interview with a 70% or better will be placed on the eligibility list.

We will be holding a recruitment process for these positions in the time frame listed below.

Panel Interviews

August 11, 2025 – August 14, 2025 (Eligibility List to Civil Service)

Executive Interviews

September 8, 2025 – September 10, 2025

Anticipated Start Date

January 2026

Academy Start Date

January 2026 with an 18-week Recruitment Academy and EMT Class

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Age Requirement: Candidates must be at least eighteen (18) years of age or older by certification date of eligibility list.

Educational Requirement: Candidates must have a high school diploma or have passed an equivalency test (GED).

Driver's License: Upon employment, and while employed, must hold and continuously maintain, a valid Washington State Driver’s License.

Physical and Medical Requirements:
Ability to meet the medical and physical requirements as specified in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1582.

Additional Requirements:
Successful completion of a pre-employment background check, psychological examination, medical examination and drug screen test.


All applicants shall be a citizen of the United States of America, a lawful permanent resident, or a deferred action for childhood arrivals recipient (DACA), who can read and write the English language.

  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment subject to extremes of temperature, inclement weather, and intermittent exposure to dust, fumes, and loud noise.
